In AVID, we have a lot of organizational tools we use to help keep better track of what we do in our time. The kinds of organizational tools we use are calendars, to do lists, and a planner describing what we do every hour. The following paper on the left is a time log, describing what we did every hour throughout the past week. On the calendars, we record assignments we have to do, events coming up, and important tests that have to be done. Those are just some of the organizational tools we use to help us.
One of the organizational tools we use is a monthly calendar. This is to help tell us when important events are to occur in a future date in the month. With a calendar, we can even record events that occur outside of school as well. The calendar on the left shows a calendar I did for the month of November to help record what homework I have for any class. Seeing the calendar, I didn't do very well with it. This is a organizational tool I wasn't very good with at first. Now, I've gotten a lot better with the calendar and I use the calendar that's on my RT all the time. This is the calendar we use in AVID to help record important events.
One of the most important things we focus on in AVID is managing the time we spend. With this time management plan, it's like a schedule we make per hour on what we do. Some of the things we record on here are what we do during school, chores done, outdoor activities, even daily routines we have to do at home. Before we record these events, we make a to do list on the left of the paper. This lists the events we plan on doing during the week. We record the events on our to do list and mark it on the time we did it. After that, we cross it out and move on to the next one. This is the time management plan worksheet done.
