English, or mostly called Reading/Language Arts, is a class that teaches me about literature and types of figures of speech. This is a great class, can be a bit hard to understand at times, but I really like this class a lot. This teaches about the types on grammar and literature used in novels, poems, stories, etc. Sometimes, we usually read a novel as a class and fill out notes and answer questions while doing so. I've honestly learned a lot from this class about the literature in novels we do and the grammar used in various sentences. This is what we do in English.
Over the year, we've read several novels to take notes on. The books my class has read include The Circuit, Nothing But the Truth, Flowers for Algernon, and The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman. While reading, we are usually given some questions to answer. I do a great job explaining my answers and backing up my opinions with support. Like the picture of my work, I most often get a perfect score on my assignments. I used to be bad at following along when it comes to reading, but over the year, I've actually gotten a lot better a it and I can understand the plots of the novels a lot better. The work on the left represents a worksheet I did on The Circuit and how I explained in great detail. That's what we do when reading a novel in English.
The test on the right shows how much I've improved on following along with the plots of stories and explaining in great and specific detail. We don't usually take tests in this class that often, but sometimes we do. At the beginning of the year, we took spelling tests to help us improve our vocabulary. We stopped taking those tests around October. Currently, I am doing very well in this class with a 97%, or an A. I find tests kind of the easiest to do than the short answer responses in assignments I have to do. I am making a lot more improvements when it comes to English.
